I love Neil Young (just so you know), which means I think this is great. Recorded between March 29th and April 6th, and out already, Living With War is a good old fashioned, rapid response, angry-as-anything protest album.
It comes with its own blog. There's the Myspace page. And the album is streamed for free here. You can even find out how to host the music yourself. Obviously, if you are terribly old fashioned you can even buy the CD, but it's not out for another week or so (with a DVD of the recording session to follow on).
And who needs advertising when there's already nearly 1000 blog posts out there, all in the space of about two weeks (Get your own chart here)...
...and 260,000 results from Google.
It's a phenomenal example of the power word-of-mouth has to 'sell', and shows that it can work for more than just the circulation of 'virals'.
This is the future. And if a 60 year old country rocker can cope, the rest of us have no excuse.
