One Thousand Paintings looks set to become this year's Million Dollar Homepage (although far cooler and classier): it will make its instigator (Sala) loads of money, and everyone else will blog about it (as I'm doing), wishing they'd had the idea themselves.
It's a very simple idea: Sala has painted the numbers 1 to 1000 in blue paint on white block canvases, and is auctioning them (the pricing mechanic is quite complex). As I write, 547 painting have gone already.
Maybe it points to a business future for small (internet) entrepreneurs: don't try to find 'the one'; the big idea to make you millions. Instead, go for ideas that are small-scale and deliberately transitory...just have loads of them: serial great ideas if you like.
