I know talking about Josh's swimming may be a little tedious for most of you. But it's a dad thing. And it's also my blog ;-)
Anyway, the South Bucks and Berkshire county champs finished last weekend, where Josh was only 1 of 3 nine year old boys swimming (outside of the relays) in a competition that starts at 10.
And for a first attempt, the boy done good, with PBs throughout. Particularly as he will be swimming in the same age group next year.
So, in event order...
- 200m Individual Medley: 10th in a time of 3:29:22
- 100m Breast Stroke: 4th in a time of 1:51:80
- 200m Breast Stroke: 4th in a time of 3:45:36 (which could be good enough for a place in the South East regional championships later in the year)
- 50m Freestyle: 6th in a time of 0:35:49
And now the two big ones (Josh is front right in the first photo).
First up, with a time of 1:15:57, gold in the 4x25 medley relay (with 3 9 year olds in the squad)...
And doing the double, with a time of 1:05:30, gold in the 4x25 freestyle relay (2 nine year olds this time)...
Unfortunately we've now hit post performance come-down, and have started to moan about morning training (well it is 6.15 in the water twice a week) and being slower than some people.
But I guess that's the ups and downs of the elite athlete for you!
