Slumdog Millionaire is clearly a brilliant film. But as Andrew Collins points out it isn't (just) a feel good movie. Even if that's how it's being positioned...
There's feel good moments, yes, but so much more to it than that…a lot quite dark and challenging.
It's as if the distributors aren't confident the reality will be as appealing a sell as the perception that Slumdog is this year's Mamma Mia.
But as we always say, celebrate the truth of who you are rather, than try to be something you're not - it only leaves people disappointed.
And I wonder how many people will go to see Slumdog and fail to see its brilliance because they were expecting something much fluffier.
