There's was an interview in Third Way recently with departing poet laureate, Andrew Motion. Amongst many interesting and insightful things, he had the following to say about poetry...
"(Poems) are to do with ecstatic pleasure, as it were, or ecstatic insight, and they don’t have to spell an exact proposition. That’s part of the mystery, I think: they can be beautifully useless and yet have immense value".
Beautifully useless yet of immense value.
Which (if clients are in need of one) is, I think, also as good a description as any I've come across of the more esoteric delights you stumble across in our digital world.
