The problem with much strategic planning is that we spend so much time on 'opening out' and consideration of possibilities that we end up unable to see the woods (or the bleeding obvious) for the trees...with the result that nothing much ever happens (or happens much later than it should've done to make a difference).
Sometimes (most times?) it is better to just do something, see what happens, learn and move on.
As Hobbes says: "you're ignorant but at least you act on it". Which is actually more than half the job done in a fast moving world.
